Hawaiian Fruit Salad Recipe

A delicious, fruity and tropical side dish

A Hawaiian fruit salad recipe is more of an adaptation of Hawaii. Hawaiian salad recipes are a staple, usually just fresh fruits, arranged on a platter.

You can use fresh or canned fruit, add some tropical flavors and you will have a scrumptious creation.

hawaiian fruit salad recipe Ingredients

3 fresh pineapple slices, cut into wedges. (may substitute 1 small can of pineapple, drained)
2 kiwi fruits, peeled and sliced
2 oranges, wedged and sliced
1 papaya, peeled, seeded and cut into wedges
1 star fruit, sliced with ribs removed
1/2 lbs red grapes
1 mango, peeled and cubed
1 banana, peeled and sliced
1 avocado, peeled and sliced thinly
2 T fresh lime juice
1/2 C frozen pineapple concentrate, thawed
1/4 C coconut, shredded

Preparation:
--On a large serving platter, arrange pineapple, kiwi, oranges, papaya, star fruit, mango and red grapes.
--Lightly toss banana and avocado with lime juice, drain and reserve lime juice. Arrange bananas and avocado on platter.
--In a small bowl, mix reserved lime juice and pineapple concentrate. Spoon over fruit.
--Add coconut over top of fruit.

You can easily adapt this recipe for Hawaiian fruit salad to your taste. Add cheese cubes, spinach, almonds or walnuts, or change the fruits to suit your taste. You can also use marshmallows, cool whip or yogurt dressing instead of the juices.
