When you visit a new place, one of the greatest pleasures is trying new food. Wonderful Hawaiian recipes will allow you to bring a taste of the islands home.
Whether you are having a party, luau or have moved from Hawaii, it's nice to incorporate these incredible tastes into your own meals.
Hawaiian culture and cuisine are both influenced by many different parts of the world.
Many Hawaiian cooking recipes have a strong Asian influence, however, Filipino, Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Puerto Rican, Korean, Samoan, Thai, Vietnamese and others are all represented. They all make Hawaii and Hawaiian food special.
The
Hawaii luau
is what is often thought of when others think of Hawaiian food. There are many traditional foods that are served, not only at the commercial luaus, but with Hawaiian families, as well.
Family luaus are commonly potluck. All of the guests or family will bring a dish. The kalua pig is often prepared at the party site, in the ground (if possible).
Hawaiian recipes don't always need to be a traditional dish. You will find many different Hawaiian style recipes available.
Some of these are seen routinely in Hawaii, while others are just adaptations.
There are tons of other great recipes from Hawaii. If you have one you would like to share, send it on over. Contact me, if you have a picture you would like to include (which would be awesome), and I'll let you know how.
